Amorphophallus konjac
It's definitely a spathe as you can tell from the shape in the photo. It's about time, this is a 1kg corm and has never flowered before. I have been told they can flower when barely more than 150g. It's growing at a fair rate now, total height is 1ft, it grew about 2 inches in the last 24 hours.

Hi, I hope you don't find me too forward if I ask something: I recently bought a small amorphophallus tuber at an exotic plant show, and I'm having surprising difficulty finding out online how to get it growing. It's only about the size of a hazelnut. Do I wait until it shows signs of life before planting it? How long should it take to sprout? Should I store it in the dark? Any help at all would be enormously appreciated!
Thank you so much,
Annushka

Hi, I currently have about 20 of the tubers and 12 are now flowering. I call mine stink plants because the flower smells like a sewer. You should plant it now but not deep, the bud point should be only about half inch below the dirt. It should grow into an umbrella shaped plant, very different. If you live in a cold area, dig it out before the frost hits it and the plant portion will die and come off and leave a little bud point. Keep it in a cool dark place until spring and plant it again. When the tuber gets to the size of a softball or bigger it will start growing in late march and flower. When the tuber gets big enough it will start putting off little tubers like a potato plant.
Hope this helped,
