If you thought the only bog-loving plant with huge, luxurious leaves was Gunnera then think again. The leaves of Petasites arise from stout stems and measure up to 115cm across. An established clump looks extremely jungly. Strange, yellowish/white flowers heads are produced close to the ground in late winter/early spring before the emergence of the foliage. This plant likes to spread so allow it plenty of room.
Grow in moist soil in sun or shade. Foliage may flag alarmingly on drier soils in hot weather but never fails to revive in the evening.
Eventual mature plant size :
Height 1.5m
