Amorphophallus konjac is one of the easiest of the genus for growing in the UK.
The inflorescence is a whopping 20 inches long, the colour of raw liver, stinks to high heaven and sits on top of a 1.75m stalk - utterly terrifying! It takes a few years and plenty of feeding before the plant reaches flowering size but in the meantime it is still prized for it's highly architectural foliage.
The stem of A. konjac is marbled, or mottled green and dull purple/pink, randomly splashed with white dots. The single leaf, made up of numerous leaflets has a span of up to 2m.
Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in sun or part shade, plenty of feed!
