A superb Hedychium with attention-grabbing foliage; the upper leaf is glossy mid to dark green, the undersides are a deep maroon with stems a lighter maroon. The flowers are large and deep rich orange but without any scent. It grows in the wild in several habitats, including marshland and thus would make a good specimen for planting as a pond marginal or bog plant. Height to 1.5m. Hardy.
