Hedychium, Roscoea, Zingiber and Cautleya are all commonly referred to as Gingers. They have beautiful foliage and stunning flowers from mid to late season, often highly scented. Many species are extremely hardy, even surviving outdoors during winter 2010/11. They make superb conservatory plants, especially the evergreen species.
(Butterfly ginger, Queen's perfume), Family Zingiberaceae, Originating from Nepal and India. A vigorous ginger producing stout red shoots in spring followed by thick, sturdy stems and glossy, mid-green leaves with slightly downy undersides.
(Ginger lily), Family Zingiberaceae, Originating from Himalayas. A clump forming ginger with thin, tapering, lance-shaped, glossy mid green leaves up to 30cm long on slender but strong stems.
(Ginger lily), Family Zingiberaceae, Originating from Nepal. Stunning foliage boasts a unique pattern of white stripes fanning out from the base of each green leaf. Pale yellow, orchid-like flowers.
