An outstanding late season clumping perennial with astilbe like dark purple/ black leaves and long arching pale pink bubblegum scented flower spikes which attract butterflies.
Grows well in moist and poorly drained soils in sun or partial shade although it is best protected from afternoon sun. It is deer and rabbit resistant.
