Originating from China and Korea
A magnificent, architectural, large leaved perennial with bright, fresh apple-green, softly textured, elegantly lobed leaves up to 90cm long, supported in their centres by slender, hairy stems - like a parasol. Plumed panicles of scented, creamy white flowers are produced from May to July and are a magnet for bees during the day and moths in the evening. Astilboides may look like a jungle plant but is extremely tough and hardy and also well-behaved making it an ideal choice for a small garden.
Grow in fertile, moist soil in shade. Sun may scorch the leaves.
