These are greedy plants and will produce the lushest of green leaves if fed regularly.
Koi pond owners may be interested to know that Colocasias are often planted in filter chambers where they suck every last drop of nitrate from the water.
This marvellous plant is edible and forms part of the staple diet in many parts of Southeast Asia. In fact it is the oldest cultivated crop in the world and its sap is used against snakebites in Indonesia!
Plant in moist soil, bog or pond margin, full sun/dappled shade.
