(Award of Garden Merit)
Originating from USA
An outstanding, large leaved architectural perennial with glossy, dark green, deeply lobed leaves held on leaf stalks up to 1.2m long, like umbrellas. These emerge after the appearance of the pink, rounded flower heads in early spring. Ideal by the side of a small pond, where a giant plant like Gunnera may be out of proportion.
Darmera will grow in fertile soil in shade but will flourish in moist soil by water.
The foliage turns orange/red in autumn.
