Shuttlecocks of narrow, tapering, upright, leathery fronds up to 70cm long, emerge from a large, knobbly scaly crown in spring.
The rhizomes can rise above ground - like mini tree ferns. British native discovered by Reverend Pinder in the Lake District and is very garden worthy.
Grow in moist shade. Woodland is ideal. Will grow in quite dry shade once established.
