Originating from Azores
A magnificent and imposing evergreen shrub, forming a dome of chunky, upright stems bearing very dark green, lance-shaped, succulent-like leaves with a conspicuous pale green/white mid-rib, arranged in whorls around the stems. Honey-scented flowers are produced in terminal cymes in summer. The newly emerging foliage is a glaucous grey giving a stunning contrast to the older, darker leaves.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade. Sap is a skin irritant and poisonous if ingested.
