The bluest of all the Switch grasses and the most robust. It makes tight, upright clumps of sky blue stems bearing flat leaves up to 60cm long that arch towards their tips. In summer it produces weeping panicles of blue/grey coloured flowers that form a haze just above the foliage. The whole plant turns a brilliant orange/yellow in autumn/winter.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun. Cut back to near ground level in March before new growth begins to emerge.
