(Award of Garden Merit)
Originating from Chile
An unusual evergreen, coniferous tree from Chile with a froth of glossy, dark green/blue, willow-like leaves, produced in amazing abundance. Columnar in habit, Podocarpus salignus can resemble a large, billowing bamboo. With maturity the weight of the foliage causes the branches to hang like a willow tree. It is very effective to raise the canopy by removing lower foliage and branches, to reveal the peeling cinnamon bark, another attractive feature of this exquisite but rarely seen tree.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun.
