Originating from New Zealand

A large evergreen shrub or small tree from New Zealand with black stems bearing a profusion of glossy, wavy edged dark green leaves. Small, heavily-scented, black flowers in summer. This makes a fast growing and dense hedge but with careful pruning can be shaped into a lovely architectural tree - ideal for a smaller garden.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade.
