Family Myrtaceae
Originating from South America
Acca is not only cultivated for its ornamental value but also as a fruiting shrub. 'Unique' is a self-pollinating variety and will produce delicious egg-shaped, edible fruits (technically berries) in summer, with a flavour of delicate mint combined with pineapple. The flowers are also edible and a whole flower makes an exotic garnish.
Grow in well-drained soil in a sunny, sheltered position. In very frost prone areas grow in a conservatory in JI no 3 in good light. Acca is drought and salt tolerant, making it an ideal shrub for coastal gardens.
