(False red Agave)
(Award of Garden Merit)
Originating from Mexico
A robust, evergreen, perennial succulent with rosettes of strap-shaped, glaucous green leaves. It produces a spectacular shocking pink flower stem, thrusting upwards like a giant asparagus spear to about 2m, branching and bearing an abundance of pendulous, pink and green tubular flowers. A tough plant, originating from woodland in the cold mountainous regions of Northern Mexico - place it in a woodland border and it will make the most eye-catching, dramatic and totally unexpected contribution to your planting scheme.
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in light shade.
Height 2m. Spread 1m.
