Visit Urban Jungle Suffolk and enjoy the wonderful world of Bonsai as part of our Japanese themed month of May. The Japanese believe that miniature objects have mystical and magical powers concentrated within them, adding to the intriguing nature of Bonsai.

The word “Bon-sai” is a Japanese term which, literally translated, means “planted in a container”. In practice for well over a thousand years, the ultimate goal of growing a Bonsai is to create a miniaturised but realistic representation of nature in the form of a tree. Bonsai are not genetically dwarfed plants, in fact, any tree species can be used to grow one.

On 18th May from 10am, Mick Hillocks from the Norfolk Bonsai Association will focus on outdoor specimens with Chinese elms, acers, cotoneaster and beech trees amongst others displayed and designed to inspire beginners and enthusiasts alike. Drop in and ask Mick your burning question and get advice on your own Bonsai.

If you're a beginner or thinking about starting with your first Bonsai, why not attend Mick's FREE 30-minute talk and demonstration at 10.30am. Just drop by for this, places are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis.

About the Norfolk Bonsai Association | The Norfolk Bonsai Association was formed many years ago to give a forum where Bonsai enthusiasts from Norfolk and beyond could gather together to share knowledge and their passion for the subject. Today we have an eclectic mix of members ranging from those who have been practising for 25 years or more, to absolute beginners to the art.
