(Golden Indian bean tree)
(Award of Garden Merit)
Originating from S.E. USA
Medium sized, deciduous tree forming an umbrella-shaped crown of large, rounded-heart-shaped, lime green leaves, up to 25cm long, emerging bronze in spring and becoming rich yellow as the season progresses. This outstanding form of the Indian bean tree is suitable for smaller gardens and may be pruned to restrict size. It is even possible to pollard in early spring, cutting back to a 30cm above ground level and allowing just one bud to develop, resulting in the production of a striking, huge leaved shrub.
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun.
