Large, evergreen shrub or small tree with long, arching stems with leathery, glossy, dark green, lance-shaped leaves with conspicuous veins make this a very distinctive and architectural plant which responds well to pruning to restrict growth or influence shape. Foliage is excellent for cut flower arranging and lasts for weeks. Coccolus laurifolius is one of the few hardy members of the mainly tropical menispermaceae family, of which there are over 500 species. It is very rare in cultivation and deserves to be grown more.
Grow in any reasonable soil in sun or part shade.
