Originating from Siberia, Korea, China

An upright deciduous upright shrub, eventually forming a thicket of purple/red stems bearing dark green leaves turning bright red in autumn. In winter the bare stems become a lustrous deep purple/black.
Grow in moist soil in full sun for best winter colour. Young stems have the best colour so prune hard in early spring before the buds break.
