Fig trees are fast growing, large shrubs or small trees with lobed, leathery, dark green leaves and succulent fruits in late summer. 'Brunswick' has particularly large, very deeply lobed, elongated leaves and is extremely tropical in appearance, but is very suited to the UK climate and produces a good crop of purple/bronze, pear-shaped fruits.
Grow in moist but well-drained, reasonably fertile soil. For fruit crops grow in a sunny, sheltered position. For the largest, exotic-looking leaves grow in a shadier position.
