Family Asteraceae
Originating from China

Slender, vertical, black stems hold wands of bright yellow flowers from June to September, over clumps of large, deeply cut dark green leaves up to 30cm across. Ligularia przewalskii prefers a rich moist soil in part shade but will tolerate a slightly drier soil in full shade.
Much easier to grow than its name is to pronounce. Some of the best specimens to be seen grow in gardens beside natural streams and ponds with giant Gunnera manicata, Rheums and Hostas.
