(Purple moor grass)
Originating from Europe and N. and S.W. Asia
A compact, very upright, deciduous grass with narrow green leaves and erect, needle-like stems bearing purple flowering heads in summer. Foliage turns golden in autumn. Excellent among shorter growing perennials or as an unusual low hedge.
Grow in reasonably fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade. Cut back dead foliage in late winter/early spring.
