Originating from N America

A clump-forming deciduous perennial with dark green leaves and whorls of rich scarlet flowers surrounded by brown bracts from mid summer through to autumn. Cambridge Scarlet is an old variety, is loved by bees and butterflies, and may be planted in traditional borders or with grasses, but it has a strong enough presence to hold its own in the exotic garden alongside Cannas, Gingers and Dahlias.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade. Leave stems intact for winter effect and cut back in spring before new foliage appears.
