Family Malvaceae
Garden origin.
Beautifully marked dark green foliage with random broad splashes of cream sets this stunning plant apart from many patio shrubs we can grow in the UK. It bears sumptuously detailed orange bell-shaped flowers, with dark cerise pink veins through spring, summer, and autumn, it demands attention and should be placed where it can be enjoyed close up.
Looking fantastic amongst other exotic plants, it will grow into a large shrub if planted in the ground after the last frosts. If lifted and cut back in November and placed in a frost-free conservatory or near a cool and bright window indoors, away from radiators, it will happily over winter ready for re-planting next spring. Alternatively, grow in a large pot on a patio for summer.
A variety with such distinguished features is worth the effort of moving inside for winter, being easy to grow with plenty of water and fertiliser in summer, in full sun.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 2.5m x 2.5m
