Family Fabaceae
Originating from S. Australia and Tasmania.
An outstandingly silvery blue small tree with a willowy and delicate character, in time, forming a wide and billowing canopy of slender evergreen leaves. This variety has a stronger blue tint to the leaves, contrasting spectacularly with its dull red stems, compared to the silver leaves and branches of the species. Its airy crown casts light shade, making it perfect for underplanting.
In early spring it produces an impressive and flamboyant display of small round yellow flowers that are highly scented, densely covering the tree in spring, much loved by all pollinators. Looking fantastic among Mediterranean and coastal-style plants, where it grows happily in maritime exposure.
Hardy in southern, coastal gardens and sheltered positions further inland, it is a fast and easy-to-grow plant for most soil types, even poor arid ones, in full sun.
Height and spread after 10 -15 years 5m x 5m.
