Originating from SE Australia Tasmania.
An outstanding Mediterranean-style plant, adaptable to many styles of garden, bearing profuse masses of soft yellow pincushion-like flowers with a honey and almond scent in spring, loved by all pollinators. It forms a wide-spreading evergreen shrub, with branches covered in spiky dark green phyllodes (leaves) that are almost hidden by the abundance of flowers.
Its charming yet rugged character is in keeping with its tolerance of wind and exposure and poor, dry soils. In time it will form a stoutly branched large shrub or small tree, requiring full sun and becoming hardier with age as it develops stouter, woodier stems. Perfect in coastal exposure.
Height and spread after 10 -15 years if not pruned 4 x 3m.
