An outstanding Japanese Maple with a vigorously growing upright branching habit, making a large shrub with a dense crown, maturing to a broad canopied small tree. It has exceptional red/purple leaf colour throughout the season (unlike many varieties that fade), turning bright crimson in the autumn. It also bears exceptionally bright red seeds. It will grow happily in full sun without scorching, so long as it has adequate water at the root, and will thrive in partial shade. Tolerant of most soil types except free-draining poor ones and suitable for growing in pots.
Height and spread after 5 – 6 years 2.5m x 1.5m
