Family Lamiaceae
Originating from N. America.
A wildly flamboyant, exotic-looking Hyssop with brightly coloured flowers borne on reliably upright herbaceous stems. All parts of the plant are intensely aromatic with an aniseed-infused minty aroma. Its many individual tubular blooms crowd the beautiful flower spikes. They are a brilliant orange colour, lasting from mid-summer to late autumn. They emerge from deeper, dusky purple bracts, giving the whole flower spike a unique richness of colour. Making a dense low-level clump that is invaluable when planting near the front of borders in light, poor soil in full sun.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 1m x 50cm.
