Description

Family Lamiaceae
Garden origin

Dusky and brooding, upright and elegant, the subtle and various hues of this Hyssop’s lovely flower spikes make it appear almost pastel yet smouldering in strong sun, bright and glowing in mellow morning or evening light. The two tones of the bright pink tubular blooms, deep burgundy sepals and the minute hairiness of both is responsible for this. They are borne on reliably upright strongly aromatic herbaceous stems above the deep green arrow shaped leaves, from mid summer to late autumn. Making a dense low level clump, it is invaluable planting near the front of borders in light, poor soil in full sun.

Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 1m x 50cm.
