Family Ranunculaceae
Originating from Europe
A robust, bushy perennial with fern-like dark green foliage and very dark purple/black pompom-like flowers in early spring and summer. Aquilegias are usually considered cottage garden plants (one of their common names is ‘Granny’s bonnet), but ‘Black Barlow’ has a touch of exoticism about it, the flowers resembling small black Dahlias.
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade.
Height and spread after 1 – 2 years 90cm x 50cm
