Originating from Turkey, Lebanon
Large, dense, bushy, evergreen shrub with twisted branches and rough, shredding, red bark. Its leaves are a glossy mid green and in winter it produces clusters of pendant white flowers followed by small, strawberry-like fruits. As its name suggests, this is a smaller version of the species.
With very little effort, ‘Compacta’ cam be pruned into a small, single-stemmed tree and is ideal for a courtyard or very small garden.
Grow in humus rich, well-drained soil in sun. Fully hardy when mature but protect young plants in severe winter weather.
