Family Scrophulariaceae
Garden origin
- A neat, compact Buddleja!
- Intensely coloured magenta/pink flower spikes appear over a long season.
- A dwarf form that is easy to grow in pots or in the ground
Outrageously rich spikes of cone-shaped flowers project outwards at all angles from the tight clump of foliage, resembling butterfly-attracting fireworks! The lustrous dark pink and purple flowers appear over a long period through summer and into autumn, attracting all pollinators. The richness of their color comes from the differing hues in each of the individual blooms, with each spike bearing hundreds of them, creating a stunning effect.
Buzz Wine is a great new variety that remedies Buddleja’s worst trait – a scruffy, loose, open habit. It features a densely compact mass of deciduous silver/green leaves covered in downy hairs, providing a great contrast for the flowers. Among the many new varieties bred each season with great promises, this appears to be one of the most exciting, showcasing radically different properties compared to other Butterfly Bushes. The pollinators have also given it their seal of approval, visiting the plants at our nursery in great numbers.
Ideally suited for growing in pots on a patio or in front of border positions in full sun, this variety is easy to grow and undemanding once established.
Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 1.5m x 1.5m.
