Family Myrtaceae
Originating from Australia
Willowy and slender branches, bearing colourful new leaves and flamboyant flowers, form a usefully compact small evergreen shrub. Its small stature and soft rounded shape allows it to be planted amongst taller, architectural plants – complimenting them with a showy display of bronzy pink leaf shoots and creamy yellow bottlebrush flowers in summer. Robust and rugged, the Alpine bottlebrush has great character; its dark, sharply pointed leaves are covered in silky hairs when young and are borne on whip like new shoots. Easy to grow in any moist or free-draining, non alkaline soil.
Height and spread in 5 – 10 years 2.5m x 2.5m.
