Family Cyperaceae
Originating from Japan.
An indispensable variety, bringing hardy and reliable colour to the lower levels of planting schemes. Its softly arching evergreen leaves make a neat clump of compact slender mid green leaves, each with broad rich, golden yellow stripes topped by small buff spikes of flowers.
Planted in groups this tough plant adds a soft texture to underplanting around taller plants, under Acers in semi shade for an oriental style garden, or amongst spiky plants in Mediterranean planting schemes, or in contemporary gardens in pots.
Hardy and easy to grow in any soil and coastal conditions in full sun or part shade.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 30cm x 30cm.
