Family Rutaceae
Originating from Asia
A small tree or large shrub bearing small, fragrant white flowers followed by fruit. The fruits take approximately one year to ripen.
Grow in moist but well-drained compost in full sun if outside.
If grown in a conservatory they require full light but shade from hot sun. Water freely in summer, sparingly in winter. Feed with a balanced fertiliser every fortnight in the summer.
Lemon trees are not quite hardy enough to survive a British winter but will tolerate light frosts.
