Originating S. Europe, China.
Emerald green oval-shaped deciduous leaves form a dense and abundant crown of foliage. New leaves emerge with pink-flushed hues, evidence of its vigorously growing habit. It is hardy and reliable and can eventually become a small tree, although it is receptive to pruning to take on any shape.
In early summer, the foliage is adorned by airy, fine clouds of hazy pink flowers, appearing in such great profusion that they sometimes obscure the leaves. The long-lasting floral display is followed by a kaleidoscopic transformation of foliage colours, changing from yellow to deep red and purple throughout autumn.
This undemanding variety is easy to grow in any soil, achieving its best flower and leaf colouration in full sun.
Height and spread after 5 – 10 years if not pruned 5m x 3m.
