An evergreen shrub, often grown as a wall shrub, with stiff branches and glossy, dark green leaves. In late spring to late summer it produces lantern-like, deep pink fleshy flowers. These nod on long stalks and when in flower, Crinodendron is one of the most beautiful of evergreen shrubs. Hardy in all but the very coldest regions. Young plants may need protection in severe weather. Tips of leaves may burn in very exposed positions.
Grow in rich, moist but well-drained acid soil in sun/part shade.
Height and spread after 5 – 6 years 2.5m x 1.5m
Mature height and spread after 10 – 15 years, if not pruned 4m x 3m
