Family Dryopteridaceae
Originating from Japan
Boldly architectural glossy fronds are borne on tall stems, upright at first, then gracefully arching as they mature. Lush and vigorously growing, this elegant large fern has many broad leaflets with pointed tips and randomly serrated and lobed margins. It makes a striking dense shuttlecock-like form in jungle planting schemes where it is happy amongst taller plants, in woodland and oriental gardens, but also looks at home in traditional English plantings and in pots in a shady spot on a patio. Easy to grow in any moist soil type in semi shade.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years: 70cm x 70cm
