(Jewel of Desert Series)
Family Aizoaceae
Originating from southern and eastern Africa
Brilliant, shining, white hot. Delicate petals that look radiant in strong sun with their molten yellow centres appear cool and icy in low light. They appear over a long period in summer above a mid green spread of succulent leaves; a perfect backdrop to the pure white daisy-like blooms. It forms a dense carpet, suited to coastal gravel gardens and rockeries, scrambling around taller plants. Easy to grow in poor well drained soil or in pots and alpine troughs, it is hardy in southern or coastal areas, but it should be protected with fleece elsewhere.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 5cm x 30cm.
