Family Asphodelaceae
Originating from Australia, Tasmania.

Sword-shaped dark fans of evergreen foliage with red markings at their bases, form low clumps, producing spikes of starry blue flowers, followed by metallic blue glossy berries; that’s an impressive set of qualities to bring to gardens. The colours of the flowers and fruit are unlike any other species. An architectural plant, ground covering, and provider of colour, it wonderfully underpins Mediterranean planting schemes, complimenting other spiky plants, and making slow-spreading clumps of mini-phormium-like leaves. Easy to grow in any soil in sun or part shade.

Height and spread after 5 – 10 years 60cm x 50cm.
