Description

Family Boraginaceae
Garden origin

A cross between Echium wildprettii and pininana, Pink Fountain is a biennial or short-lived perennial forming a rosette of enormous, hairy, tapering leaves. It produces an astonishing, towering flower spike of pink flowers that are magnets for bees. After flowering it will self-seed with abandon. Be careful to leave a few seedlings for successive years.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in full sun. Protect in winter with fleece and straw. May not survive a severe winter.

Mature height and spread after 2 years 3m x 1m
