Originating from Mediterranean and E. Asia
Evergreen, slowly spreading, carpet forming perennial with glossy deep green, heart shaped leaves on wiry stems, with a conspicuous bronze flush when young. Produces bright yellow flowers up to 2.5cm across, like tiny orchids. A handsome and indispensable weed suppressing ground cover plant in a shady border, associating well with hostas, and ferns and providing valuable winter interest.
Cut back dead and damaged leaves in early spring before new season’s growth and flowers emerge.
Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in shade/part shade. Will tolerate dry soil once established.
