Originating from China and Japan
A handsome small but very architectural tree with a large, rounded crown, from China and Japan. The leaves are large, long, leathery, dark green and strongly veined. New leaves emerge covered in a golden brown down. In warmer climates the tree produces flowers in winter and small golden yellow delicious fruits in summer.
Although fruit production is very rare in the UK it is not unknown and reasonable size crops have been reported from sheltered London gardens.
Grow in fertile, well-drained soil in sun.
