A rosette-forming, evergreen, hardy perennial with glossy, sharp-toothed, sword-shaped leaves and long stems bearing green/white, cone-shaped flowers in spiny bracts. Whilst the flowers are not especially showy, the foliage is very unlike most other Eryngiums and rather resembles an Agave or a Bromeliad.
