An extraordinarily colourful and architectural, clump-forming deciduous perennial with spiny, silver-veined, deeply-cut leaves and thistle-like flower heads consisting of a steely blue cone surrounded by a collar of deep blue bracts. These are held on strong, robust, violet-coloured stems and make excellent cut flowers. Wonderful in gravel gardens and amongst grasses.
Grow in well-drained soil in sun.
Mature height and spread after 1 – 2 years 50cm x 40cm
