Description

Family Euphorbiaceae
Originating from Santa Maria Island in the Azores

An upright, tree-like architectural evergreen with blue/green leaves and russet flowers in spring that smell of honey, followed by pea-sized fruits that pop. One of the most spectacular of the honey spurges, endangered in the wild and extremely rare in cultivation. We have it growing at our Beccles nursery in an exposed site where it has endured snow and freezing easterly winds unscathed so far.
Grow in moist but well-drained soil in sun/part shade.

Height and spread after 1 – 2 years 80cm x 80cm
Semi mature height and spread after 3 – 4 years if not pruned 1.5m x 1.5m
Potential mature height and spread after 6 – 8 years 4m x 2m
