Family Ginkgoaceae
Originating from China
A tree with a big personality, elegant and beautifully poised, yet wizened and craggy, serene and unique, it bears its adorable fan shaped leaves in clusters all along its branches, giving them a densely clothed, soft texture. Forming a dense columnar tree when young it has its own symmetry, seeming to throw out random, long horizontal branches, that is somehow in balance with its overall form. Its glorious autumn colour turns the tree brilliant shining butter yellow, transforming its architectural form into a hazy, hot columnar statement, before the leaves fall. Easy to grow in any soil in full sun.
Height and spread after 20 – 50 years 15m x 8m.
