Family Caesalpiniaceae
Originating from North America
An outstanding deciduous tree, with zigzagging branches, developing a rounded crown with a froth of fern-like foliage – an arresting golden yellow in spring, perhaps the most striking golden foliage of any tree. In summer the leaves become yellow/green before turning buttery yellow in autumn. This elegant tree needs space so as to be able to appreciate its graceful habit and it deserves to be grown as a specimen.
Grow in any reasonably fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun.
Height and spread after 5 – 6 years 3m x 3m
Mature height and spread after 10 – 12 years if not pruned 8m x 5m
