Family Asphodelaceae
Originating from China
Sophisticated, slender and stylish, this is a smouldering, velvety looking daylily, with long spidery looking petals that flare widely and recurve elegantly, giving each bloom great poise. A slender, gold strip runs along the centre of each petal, dissecting their deep burgundy/black main colour. A bold flare of gold with light green hues at the base of each one, lights up the flower. Borne on tall spikes over a clump of evergreen strap-shaped leaves, each bloom lasts only a day, but the long succession of them on each spike means the clump is in bloom for many weeks. Easy to grow in any soil in full sun or light shade.
Height and spread after 2 – 5 years 80cm x 50cm.
